- Heyo my man,
- - Remember my rant on 'Don't Repeat Yourself' - the DRY principle in coding? Everyones learns this in school like a gospel. Then one day you start writing microservices, you share code across teams, adding dependencies to not just code but teams(i.e humans). Now you have incidental complexity and soon a hot mess. A new feature comes in. The requirements need coordination across multiple teams. You are frustrated. Your product manager is frustrated. CEO has no idea what happened. The developers think they wrote the best code ever.
- - "Yeah that's cool but it's a solution looking for a problem" - head of product/engineering somewhere to a wide eyed junior developer excited about their demo

- You see - Rules are scaffoldings. You need them for support and guidance on an uncharted path. They constraint the degree of freedom to keep one "in the lane". But how do we like the looks of a building with scaffolding around it? Not much. It's ugly. You don't wanna look at it from the outside. You also don't wanna live inside it - even though the scaffolding provides the safety and assurance.
